Description
The course will provide basic information on the developmental characteristics, personality formation, and behavior of school-age children. The goal of this course is to help adults interested in the Montessori elementary system understand the psychophysiological features of this stage of childhood, become familiar with the organization of work in the Elementary classroom, and understand the role and responsibilities of adults when working with younger schoolchildren. -
Upon successful completion of the course, an international AMI certificate is issued

Duration: 60 hours of coursework (36 hours with the trainer + 28 hours of independent work), plus 9 hours of observation.
The course includes online sessions, webinars, discussion forums, assignments, and observations. It consists of theoretical lectures, reading, discussions, practical activities, and material making.

Observations are a vital part of Montessori training, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of Montessori principles and their practical application. The format and schedule for observations will be announced during the course.

- Human needs and tendencies
- The four planes of development
- Observation
- The prepared environment
- Children in the second plane of development

- The role of the assistant in the 6–12 classroom
Observations are a vital part of Montessori training, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of Montessori principles and their practical application. The format and schedule for observations will be announced during the course.
Upon successful completion of the course, an international AMI diploma is issued.
To receive a diploma, a student must:
• attend at least 90% of classes,
• successfully complete all course assignments and pass exams,
• conduct the required observation hours and submit an observation report,
• produce and submit didactic material.

Rebecca Dallam
AMI trainer 3-6, 6-12
Rebecca Dallam is an international AMI trainer and a certified AMI teacher at both the 3–6 (1987) and 6–12 (1996) levels, with over 20 years of experience. She is the Director of the 6–12 teacher training course at the Australian Centre for Montessori Studies.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Temple University and a Master’s degree in Education from Loyola University. Before moving to Australia in 1998, she worked in public Montessori schools in the United States. Since then, she has been actively developing 6–12 teacher training in Australia to ensure that more children can benefit from the Montessori approach to human development.
Rebecca has delivered AMI courses in Australia, the United States, China, Japan, Russia, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Thailand. She has also worked with educators in these countries and served as an examiner on courses in Japan.

Thanks to the course, I, as a parent, have become more aware of my child's needs at each stage of development. My own perception of my child's abilities at this age and the role of the adult in the child's development has changed.
